BABE process proves its worth

In September 2005, the BABE process went into operation at the 's-Hertogenbosch wastewater treatment works in The Netherlands. The first-ever application of this innovative process has proved very successful. The augmentation of nitrifying bacteria within the activated sludge process significantly increased the nitrification capacity at the plant and thus improved nitrogen removal.
