Who's Drive To Secure A Shift In Reuse Safety

One of the important side events at the Stockholm World Water Week in August this year is the launch of an information kit to support the third edition of the World Health Organization's Guidelines for the Safe Use of Wastewater, Excreta and Greywater.Reuse has been in the ascendancy in recent years, but this launch represents just the latest step in the history of guidance dating back 35 years. Earlier editions of the Guidelines, published respectively in 1973 and 1989, were more limited in their coverage than the third edition, which was published in 2006. Nevertheless, they have been influential in setting standards and, in the case of the 1989 edition, defining policy frame- works in many countries.
