There is the overall impression that there is not just a need for technological improvements, but a requirement for a more cross-sectoral approach to incorporate energy, waste and food production, tailored to each situation. Urban areas have been highlighted as an area of future focus, as well as increased public engagement and education as part of the process of developing and incorporating more sustainable methods of urban water resources management.Tianjin is a whole new city development, with a strong emphasis on conserving and incorporating the natural environment, but the challenge lies with cities already developed and how they can adapt to changing conditions and move towards a more sustainable future.
