An Ideal Ica System

The Scientific and Technical Report prepared by the Specialist Group on ICA* identifies the vital components of an ICA system. It notes that'ICA is not one large black box with flashing lights in a control room without any people. The ideal ICA system contains four functional components.' These are: 1. a quality team of people who feel a deep sense of ownership of the system and the treatment plant and who are committed to the continuous improvement ethics; 2. a monitoring system to gather data, process and display the data, detect and isolate abnormal situations, assist in diagnosis and advice, and finally simulate the consequences of operational adjustments. A proper data acquisition and reporting is crucial.
