New immersion probe measures oil in water

It only takes a trace of oil to impair water quality. The new FP 360 sc immersion probe from Hach Lange monitors surface, process and industrial water to detect contamination by mineral oil.rnFP 360 sc uses an ultraviolet fluorescence method.When polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are exposed to ultraviolet radiation, they emit fluorescent light at an intensity which is directly related to their concentration. As PAHs are present in most mineral oils, their concentrationrncan be used to calculate the mineral oil content of water.rnThe FP 360 sc probe is used in combination with the proven SC controller. Depending on the model, up to eight different sensors can be connected to one controller. Extensive communication variants enable integration into existing BUS systems and into a network via Ethernet or in wireless form using GPRS for site-independent installation.
