Groundwater extraction increasing flood risk in Mekong Delta

New research from Stanford University on groundwater extraction, land subsidence and sea level rise in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam has provided the first maps of land subsidence throughout the low-lying delta. These prove that the region is subsiding by between 25mm and 100mm a year, largely due to groundwater abstraction.
