NGWA Hosts Third Workshop on Groundwater and Oil and Gas Development

NGWA hosted a workshop on groundwater and its relationship with oil and gas development, March 4-5 in San Antonio, Texas. The event was NGWA's third related to the subject, following events in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2014) and Columbus, Ohio (2017) focused on stray gas in the Northeast United States and Canada. The workshop in Texas, which drew nearly 50 attendees, focused on water availability and improved water management practices for groundwater protection. Participants included a mix of groundwater and upstream oil and gas industry professionals from across the United States and British Columbia, Canada. Glen Benge, an independent consultant who has more than 40 years of experience with the oil and gas industry in well cementing and isolation, gave the keynote presentation titled "Wellbore Barriers-More Than Just a Good Cement Job."
