摘要

This paper synthesizes the findings of two pilot studies conducted on a water source containing bromide deriving from the San Joaquin-Sacramento Delta in California. The studies examined issues regarding disinfection, disinfection by-product formation and control, taste and odor control, coagulation-filtration, and microbial regrowth. This paper focuses on bromate control with respect to water quality (e.g., pH depression prior to ozonation), engineering (e.g., contactor design), and operations (e.g., tapering of the ozone residual). It suggests that integration of all three areas is important for optimizing bromate control.
