EPA Highlights Benefits Of Crafting Green Infrastructure Economic Studies

EPA is offering municipalities tips on crafting cost-benefit studies for green infrastructure programs, highlighting in a new report 13 case studies covering both limited analysis and those, such as a study by Philadelphia, that quantified a wide range of non-market benefits such as reduced carbon emissions and fewer heat-related deaths. The August report, "Case Studies Analyzing the Economic Benefits of Low Impact Development and Green Infrastructure Programs," includes reports on green infrastructure stormwater projects at a selection of small, medium and large local governments, with several failing to complete comprehensive studies and also struggling to incorporate operations and maintenance (O&M) considerations into their program.
