摘要

EPA has re-started its long-running assessment of hexavalent chromium (Cr6), in part to produce one assessment that considers risks from both inhalation and ingestion, and in part to account for a modeling effort that the agency has undertaken to better understand how Cr6 reduces to a less toxic form of the metal inside the body. Agency scientists said recently that a model created for the chemical industry to assess risks was inadequate for agency purposes and officials are now working to update the industry model to account for some potentially more complex dosing scenarios and to be able to use additional animal data.
