Sen. Cardin Seeks To Increase EPA's Water Infrastructure Loan Funds

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) has introduced a bill that would increase authorization levels for EPA's clean water and drinking water state revolving funds (SRFs), in response to President Obama's fiscal year 2017 budget request that has prompted push-back for its proposal to cut the drinking water SRF by $411 million. The legislation, S. 2532, would set new, increased authorization levels for the two SRFs for FY16 through FY20. Cardin previously raised concerns in a Feb. 3 letter to the White House that the current and proposed levels for both water funds are inadequate.
