Switching to Sodium Hypochlorite Disinfection

As communities grow and encroach upon once-rural wastewater treatment plants, the potential increases greatly for mass injuries and property damage from the accidental release of hazardous process chemicals. Recent regulations governing the safe transport, storage, and use of liquid-gas chlorine have directed publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) to evaluate their use of the product. In many cases, facilities may find that replacing liquid-gas chlorine with sodium hypochlorite is a safer and cost-effective disinfection solution.
