Recycling effort transforms Tim Hortons' coffee cups

The coffee chain Tim Hortons is not only recycling its used hot beverage containers, it's having them turned into coffee tray carriers.The company's recent cup-to-tray recycling program began at 28 Tim Hortons restaurants in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.The company has also implemented a cup recycling program at its 156 restaurants in Nova Scotia."It really started with us trying to find a way to handle the volume of cups we produce," said Greg Smith, senior manager of regional marketing for Atlantic Canada Tim Hortons. "Clearly, we produce thousands and thousands of cups of coffee and we realized that they continually were going to a landfill."
