At Advanced Trading's Buy-Side Trading Summit in November, buy-side traders and technology execs were eager to discuss the new era of trading. Having navigated an extremely volatile and difficult trading environment for the last year - even more so in the last several months - traders were glad to discuss with their peers the new issues they are facing. In general session discussions, workshops and more-informal gatherings, topics included how the credit crisis has changed trading, what shape the financial services industry will take after the bailout issues, mergers, and bankruptcies settle down, and, on a more tactical level, managing risk, safeguarding CCAs, using transaction cost analysis, and understanding the anti-gaming logic built into dark pools.
