Stream Base Taps Palmer

Lexington, Mass.-based Stream-Base hired former Progress Apama general manager Mark Palmer as president and COO. Palmer says he has long admired StreamBase as a technology leader and for the vision that the company's founder, Michael Stonebraker, set for the complex event processing (CEP) computing model. CEP is an increasingly important technology for the securities industry, Palmer adds, pointing out that just five years ago there were only a few visionaries doing algorithmic trading in equities. "Now it's also FX, fixed income, and options and futures," he says.
