3D vision-guided robot sorts veterinary catheters for packaging

Meeting high quality demands and increasing profitability drive many of today's manufacturing process improvements. For example, German systems integration company Pose Automation (Langenargen, Germany; www.pose-automation.de/en-gb) recently developed a vision-guided robotics system for a manufacturer of catheters used in veterinary medicine. The robotic cell sorts and transfers randomly-placed catheters from a conveyor to a packaging machine for shipment. An Ensenso N35 camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems (Ober-sulm, Germany; www.ids-imaging.com) is used to locate each catheter for a robot arm from Comau (Grugliasco, Italy; www.conrau.com).
