This paper describes dynamic characteristics of an AGT vehicle with single-axle bogies. The multibody dynamics modeler, DADS, is used to build the dynamic model of an AGT vehicle with single-axle bogies and this is used to demonstrate the vehicle motion in actual guideway. The target AGT vehicle consists of front bogie, rear bogie and body. The each bogie consists of bogie frame, rotating frame, guide wheels and running wheel. Twenty seven (27) rigid bodies including sprung mass are used for the vehicle modelling. Suitable joints that connect each rigid body are selected and applied to realize the actual movement. It is demonstrated that the vehicle dynamic response can be obtained in a realistic situation by using a multibody dynamics code, that is useful for designing both vehicle and guideway. The results of the field test were compared with the results of our simulation of the model vehicle. It was confirmed that the model vehicle is good enough to represent the dynamics of the real vehicles. As the one of the applications of multibody vehicle model, the vehicle motion in large earthquake is calculated. It is demonstrated that the multibody vehicle model is effective for evaluating the vehicle motion in the earthquake from the view point of the passengers safety.
