As noted in this week’s cover story, on July 18 (Wednesday)rnthe U.S. DOC has initiated its investigation into the Sectionrn232 petition concerning uranium imports in the U.S.rnSpot market activity had been more moderate as July started,rnbut the number of deals has increased over the past two weeksrnfor a number of reasons as market participants appear to bernpreparing for further upward price moves. From last Mondayrnthrough Friday, more than a dozen spot transactions were reportedrnas awarded, most of which were done Wednesday andrnThursday, likely due in part as a response to the DOC announcement.rnPricing under these deals have continued to reflectrnthe recent upward price trend, not just for spot delivery,rnbut also out along the forward curve. Based on recent activityrnas well as currently available bids and offers, the Ux U3O8rnPrice increases to $23.80 per pound, up $0.45 for the week.rnThe Ux 3-Year and 5-Year U3O8 Forward Prices also increasernthis week to $28.25 and $33.50 per pound, respectively (seernchart on page 10).
