January spot activity was low until a spike of deals occurred on the last day of the month. Total activity for the month resulted in 22 transactions, of which 19 were in the form of U3O8, plus one each for conversion, UF6, and EUP. For uranium-contained deals, there were a total of 21 transactions involving just over 3.6 million pounds U3O8e. Utility term activity during January was also limited with only five U3O8 contract awards reported involving over nine million pounds U3O8. No conversion or enrichment-involved term awards were reported. However, there were numerous nonutility uranium awards as contracting activity for forward delivery increased as intermediaries moved material around. Activity also included inventory financing through sale/buyback arrangements.
