After spot activity slipped back considerably the secondweek of May resulting in only three transactions concludedthat week, buying stayed low through the early part of lastweek. However, on Wednesday activity picked up as multiplebuyers entered the market resulting in six additional transactionsbeing reported for the day from a combination ofbuyer types, including utilities, who had been quiet of late.The spot price experienced upward pressure amid Wednesday’shigher activity. The first deal was reported at a slightlyhigher price than deals transacted the previous week. Subsequentdeals pushed prices above the $31 level, although thehighest priced deals were only for delivery later in the year.Pricing increases were noted for all three primary delivery locationswith activity reported last week for Cameco, ConverDyn,and Orano delivery, but location differentials decliningfor the week. Following the Wednesday price increase, itappears that market participants took a breather on Thursdayand Friday, and activity died down again as the week endedwith no new deals reported on either day.
