As production issues related to COVID-19 increase andspot demand hits new highs, notable upward pressure on thespot price has continued. This upward pressure is not surprisinggiven the dramatic increase in spot activity following lastmonth’s record smashing 76 transactions. As noted below,April has already easily surpassed March’s total setting a newall-time record, and we still have three days left in the month.This increase has been driven by producer and intermediarypurchases, but utilities have also been quietly testing the marketfor spot and/or mid-term delivery. Part of this interest hasresulted in some off-market spot and mid-term utility activity.In addition, a U.S. utility is awaiting offers due at the end ofthe month for up to two reloads of uranium contained in EUPthat could potentially have spot delivery.
