As we enter the second week of December, spot interest is starting to wind down with a number of participants beginning to finalize their year-end activity. While several utilities worked to spend remaining budgets for the year, a couple of others are still potentially seeking small quantities of material to match remaining funds. Some intermediaries are also starting to slow down as we approach the holidays with only a couple of full weeks left for counterparties to meet each other in the market. As such, the number of spot transactions declined last week with only six deals booked as awarded since last Monday. However, activity on Friday did pick up as a couple of spot transactions were concluded during the day, and several utilities had offers due that day for both spot and mid-term delivery. One of these was a non-U.S. utility that is now evaluating offers for up to 400 tU_3O_8 (~880,000 pounds U_3O_8) with Cameco or Orano for delivery in January through March 2020. Another non-U.S. utility is evaluating offers for 220 tU (~572,000 pounds U_3O_8) with delivery in 2020, but this award is not expected until next year.
