Over the past week, spot uranium activity was more moderate with only a handful of new transactions reported. On Friday (Nov. 16), the IAEA, which had been evaluating offers for spot EUP since January, announced that it awarded the request to two suppliers (see page 7). With last week’s deals, November spot volume now stands at 5.7 million pounds U3O8 equivalent under 27 transactions. Additionally, on Friday, a non-U.S. utility entered the market seeking up to 660,000 pounds U3O8 (300 tU3O8) with delivery in February to June 2019. Offers are due December 27. Market participants are also awaiting additional spot buying interest from a non-U.S. producer. However, market activity this week could also be somewhat muted as the U.S. celebrates its Thanksgiving holiday, and thus many market participants will have a shorter work week. Given that a full work week will follow Thanksgiving, we could still see significant additional volumes traded by the end of this month.
