Large-scale events have become widely solicited as catalysts for urban development. Many urban administrations trust on the appeal of events and the persuasion of the deadline of the opening ceremony to create a positive and long-lasting legacy. Eva Kassens-Noor questions these claims by asking the question if the focus on the event itself does not distract from previous planning goals.
