Brooke lines up for Shell's Timi platform

MALAYSIAN offshore builder Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works has secured a new contract to fabricate a first-of-its-kind offshore platform for a Shell-led offshore gas project in the country. Shell made a final investment decision last month on the Timi project, and said the offshore platform would be powered by a solar and wind hybrid renewable-power system. The unmanned platform will be about 60% lighter than a conventional tender assist drilling wellhead platform, Shell has said. The supermajor did not disclose at that time the name of its platform fabricator, but Kuala Lumpur-based sources said Brooke Dockyard had sealed the contract.
