Petrobras weighs up bids for subsea disposal role

PETROBRAS is poring over offers from a dozen companies in a major tender to contract specialised services to remove huge amounts of flexible pipes and mooring systems that used to serve old production platforms in the prolific Campos basin offshore Brazil. The closely watched bidding process attracted interest from several contractors and is deemed crucial for the state-controlled oil giant to carry out the decommissioning of thousands of tonnes of ageing infrastructure from the seabed. The tender is part of a broader agenda that will see Petrobras decommission as many as 18 production units - mainly in the Campos basin - by 2025 at an estimated cost of about $4.6 billion.
