摘要

AUSTRALIAN independent Origin Energy is set to resume exploration of the Northern Territory's onshore shale play in the Beetaloo basin before the end of the year after work was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The work set to resume in either the third or fourth quarter will include the fracture stimulation of the Kyalla well, which was set to take place just before the halt of operations in March. The well was drilled in February to a depth of 3809 metres and included a 1579-metre lateral section in the Lowery Kyalla formation. Initial results demonstrated good reservoir continuity, conductive natural fractures and continuous gas shows. The well is targeting the Kyalla formation to assess hydrocarbon maturity, saturation and reservoir quality and provide more information on the areal distribution of the formation.
