New FSO nears sailaway

A new floating, storage and offloading vessel is due to start sailing to Vietnam in the coming weeks bound for the Idemitsu Kosan-operated Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet fields. The Golden Star FSO is being provided on a time charter by a joint venture comprising Malaysia's MISC and Vietnam's PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC). The tanker Yasa Golden Horn was delivered by MISC-PTSC to Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering (MMHE) last April for conversion into the Golden Star. Well-placed Vietnam sources said the project is tracking well, and the plan is for the FSO to sail away early next month. The FSO will have storage capacity of about 700,000 barrels of condensate, and will be located on the Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet fields in blocks 05-1b and 05-1c for a firm period of seven years.
