AUTHORITIES in Aceh, Indonesia are pressing for fresh offshore exploration after a recent study carried out by Jakarta-based independent Conrad Petroleum and others showed the province has the potential to unlock new oil and gas reserves at the Singkil and Meulaboh blocks. Conrad, in a virtual presentation, recently unveiled the results of the Joint Study Assessment (JSA) it performed in co-operation with the Veterans National Development University to Indonesia's Directorate General of Oil & Gas and the Aceh Oil & Gas Management Agency (BPMA). Also presenting their JSA results was the pairing of Frontier Point and Trisakti University. Singkil has touted a mean best estimate contingent reserves potential of 296 billion cubic feet of gas, while the Meulaboh block has potential of 192 million barrels oil and 1.1 trillion cubic feet of gas, according to the agency.
