SAPURAOMV is poring over bids from two players competing for a major turnkey contract linked to the operator's Jerun gas project off Sarawak, East Malaysia but an award is seen as still some way off. Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering (MMHE) and compatriot rival Sapura Fabrication have submitted technical and commercial offers to project operator Sapu-raOMV Upstream but a contract award is not expected until December at the earliest, said Kuala Lumpur-based contracting sources. The contract up for grabs involves the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a large offshore processing platform weighing 22,000 tonnes, plus 5300 tonnes of piles and an 8500-tonne compression platform.
