ANGLO-Dutch supermajor Shell is preparing to join the big league in Brazil, as it moves forward to conquer the pre-salt on its own by becoming operator of a production development in the prolific play. Shell became the second-largest producer in Brazil, behind only state-controlled company Petrobras, following the purchase of BG Group more than three years ago. Shell was already producing in Brazil from its Parque das Conchas and Bijupira-Salema post-salt fields prior to the deal.
