TOTAL has been focused on bringing the Culzean gas condensate project off the UK into production but also has an eye on ensuring enough new gas can be found in the area to keep its new facilities fully used for as long as possible, writes Rob Watts. "Obviously at this stage you have to focus on getting the project across the line and getting the native gas from Culzean on stream," said facilities manager Stuart McAuley. "But our exploration teams are already looking at exploration targets in the area and our commercial teams are already receiving expressions of interest from other (third-party) fields." McAuley cites the oilman's adage that the best place to look for oil and gas is around existing fields.
