New round for Romania

ROMANIA is preparing to launch its first licensing round for 10 years, offering 28 onshore and offshore blocks in its 11th round. The National Agency for Mineral Resources of Romania (NAMR) said six offshore blocks in the Black Sea, each of between 800 and 900 square kilometres in size, and 22 onshore blocks spread across the country will be on offer. The onshore blocks, similar in size to those offshore, are mostly based in south-eastern Romania, with one block in the north of the country. The round will open, according to NAMR, once an official announcement is published in the European Union Official Journal, which will give more details about the auction and the bidding procedure.
