Freeport LNG bids expected

FREEPORT LNG is expecting bids for the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the proposed fourth train of the US liquefied natural gas export facility in Texas to be submitted this quarter, writes Caroline Evans. The privately owned LNG operator plans to review bids from a short list of contractors once the bids are in, said Free-port LNG strategy and research director Brad Phillips. "We're going to examine those bids and we'll move on from there," Phillips said on the sidelines of the S&P Global Platts LNG conference in Houston on Tuesday. He later declined to say when the bidding process launched. The Train 4 expansion would allow for the export of an additional 5 million tonnes per annum of LNG and increase the project's total export capability to around 20 million tpa of LNG.
