Pemex gains approval to spud Zama follow up

PEMEX has been granted permission from Mexican oil regulators to drill the Asab-1EXP well, a key follow-up probe to the Talos Energy-operated Zama discovery, with a target date to begin operations by the end of this month. However, some sources suggest there could be delays given that the drillship Tiger 1, which was planned to carry out the operations, remains stacked at a shipyard in China having yet to begin a lengthy voyage to the Americas. Pemex last year carried out multiple tenders to line up a rig to drill the well, ultimately choosing a consortium of its own drilling services company and Mexican service player Marinsa to supply the unit.
