TECHNIPFMC has taken a $280 million provision related to ongoing corruption investigations in Brazil, France and the US, a charge that contributed to the London-based contractor posting a huge $2.26 billion loss in the fourth quarter of 2018. The company said it is co-operating with the authorities in all three countries about potentially corrupt activities related to legacy projects in Brazil, Equatorial Guinea and Ghana, plus Unaoil contracts in Iraq. Describing these historical individual actions as "unacceptable", TechnipFMC's chief executive Doug Pferdehirt told analysts: "These matters have progressed to a point where we have made a provision of the probable estimate for an aggregate settlement with all authorities."
