Description. Experimental teleoperated tracked robotic ground vehicle. Sponsor. French Ministry of Defense through the Direction des Recherches, Etudes, et Techniques (DRET) directorate, Paris, France, under the Delegation Gendrale pour rArmement jurisdiction. Status. Research work continuing. DARDS was a technology demonstrator. Tests involving the new SYRANO vehicle commenced in 1999. No production program has been launched. The Bulle Operationnelle Ae"roterrestre (BOA) project has been initiated and could provide a variety of unmanned air and ground vehicles to the French armed forces. Total Produced. No full-scale production vehicles have been fabricated. France has not announced any military requirement for an unmanned ground vehicle. Application. This unmanned ground vehicle could be used for a variety of missions, including reconnaissance and surveillance, and for weapon system designation and targeting. Price Range. No specific information is available on production unit cost.
