Thailand is developing UAV systems. Development of this UAV will be the responsibility of the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) and the Ministry of Defense. Thailand plans to use this UAV system to monitor its border for illegal immigrants and drug smuggling. The UAV will have an operational range of 200 kilometers and be equipped with a Global Positioning System. Should the air vehicle lose contact with ground controllers, it will automatically fly back to its base.
