AeroVironment Introduces Qube to Public Safety Professionals

AeroVironment started its test and evaluation program for the Qube small UAS, an aerial system tailored to law enforcement and first responders. The Qube system can be unpacked, assembled and in the air in less than five minutes, according to company officials. Once airborne, the vertical takeoff and landing UAS can hover for up to 40 minutes. It is equipped with dual color and thermal video cameras that can transmit live video directly to the operator. "Public safety professionals have been asking for this capability for years," says Tom Herring, AeroVironment senior vice president and general manager of unmanned aircraft systems. "They have learned about the effectiveness of our Raven, Wasp and Puma UAS over the battlefield and want a similar capability that is tailored to their mission requirements."
