London Calling: Best large renovation (＞£250,000)

Protecting London's critical Ham sewer was a high profile job for UKDN Waterflow working with the Dragados Sisk Joint Venture (DSJV) and Thames Water. Engineering consultancy support came from Fairhurst and the ultimate client was Crossrail. In building London's new east to west rail link two 7.1 m diameter TBMs were set to pass within 500m and is believed to be the closest pass ever undertaken. The complex 20-day project (with associated works spread over a number of months] saw a 50 m continuous duplex stainless steel structural design lining jacked into place and precision welded to standards normally associated with very high pressure pipelines.
