摘要

Fleet managers should take a stronger stance on driver behaviour, if they want to reduce fleet operating costs - with the financial impact of good and bad drivers varying by as much as 25%. That's the message from fleet management systems firm Chevin Fleet Solutions, which compiled the figures from its customer database. Best drivers can reduce costs by 12%, while the worst increase them by 13%, says Chevin's David Gladding. 'The difference between best and worst will run into thousands of pounds per vehicle and, even on a medium-sized fleet, could mean a six-figure variance," he insists. He cites fuel, maintenance, accidents and vehicle condition as the key issues. Where employers demand that drivers are resonsible for their vehicles, the level of variance closes enough to make the stance worthwhile.
