The NSW state election on 24 March was a little unusual as campaigns went. The Labor Party launched its campaign well in advance of the issuing of writs and Ministerial press releases turned into election statements. Even after the writs were issued on 5 March, Ministerial press releases, combined with political statements from the Premier were still issued by the office of John Watkins in his three roles as Assistant Premier, Transport Minister and Police Minister - even more surprising was the fact that the State Opposition did not seem upset at a breach of the protocol surrounding elections. Most Labor Party announcements in the transport field involved the extension of existing programs and are listed as usual as news. TA will attempt to summarise Opposition policies below.
