The ACT Government faced an election on 18 October. A Liberal Party transport policy offered new Park and Ride hubs adjacent to major bus interchanges at Tuggeranong, Weston Creek, North Canberra and Gungahlin at a cost of $2.5 million plus $2.9 million for extra peak-hour bus services and $8 million for a study of light rail. The election count was completed on 25 October, with the 17 Legislative Assembly seats going to Labour (seven), Liberals (six) and Greens (four). The Greens are currently negotiating with the other parties over the formation of some form of coalition government.
