Sydney Censtructing a Temporary Platform at Thornleigh

Over the long weekend of 9-11 June the Down Platform 3 at Thornleigh was demolished and replaced by a temporary platform. Demolition of the old platform started at daylight on the morning of 9 June and by 1100 the platform was about half removed. A spoil train was provided to remove the demolished material and was running wrong road on the Down line with the locomotives at the Sydney end. When the train was fully loaded it ran into the Down Passing Loop and remained there for most of the daylight hours.
