On 1 May 1886 the Metropolitan Tramway and Investment Company's horse line was extended over the Victoria Bridge terminating at the railway crossing, Woolloongabba near The Five Ways. On 20 April 1887 it was taken on along Logan Road to Maynard Street where a depot was located. This was the first section of the horse undertaking to be converted to electric traction, on 21 June 1897. Queen Victoria's jubilee celebrations and the opening of the new replacement Victoria Bridge on 22 June overshadowed this event. This line was extended with final termini at Greenslopes, Mount Gravatt, Belmont and Cavendish Road.
