PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF IMPULSE TYPE TURBINE STAGE GROUPS

摘要

The knowledge of performance characteristics of turbine stage groups is still insufficient, particularly in the general case of changes of operating conditions. This situation is caused mainly by the scarcity of experimental data available. In such case, the opportunity to obtain the required data, using mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of the operation of stage groups under off-design conditions instead of physical experiment, seems to be attractive. Developing this idea, a model and simulation computer code were prepared for impulse (chamber) type stage groups, verified using soviet (KTZ) experimental data, and also a design for research of 8 stage groups (of Polish production) was worked out. As a result of the simulation, a very large set of data and information was received, and subsequently subjected to various analyses and tests. The more general properties of the examined groups were revealed as a result of these activities, which allowed the authors to propose new dependences determining the mass flow rate and efficiency of such turbine stage groups better than up-to-now published ones.
