NUCLEAR MATERIALS SECURITY:THE FORCE-ON-FORCE TABLE-TOP EXERCISE AS A CLASSROOM TOOL

The incorporation of the TTX into the curriculum of the NE-530 class has accomplished a number of educational objectives. First, it has established a framework for bringing together the concepts of nuclear security. Secondly, the novelty of the exercise approach and the team versus team competition focused student attention on the challenge very effectively. Finally, the collaboration with ORNL and Y-12 staff throughout the class, culminating with the play of the TTX at Y-12, brought an important level of realism and context to the course.
