GEAR-MC, a novel approach for calculating sensitivity coefficients for generalized responses in continuous-energy Monte Carlo applications, has been developed and implemented in the KENO Monte Carlo code. Response ratio sensitivity coefficients were calculated for several responses and test problems, and GEAR-MC produced sensitivities that agreed well with direct perturbation and TSUNAMI-ID sensitivities. Although proof of principle has been demonstrated for the GEAR-MC method, additional work is necessary to further verify the accuracy of the method, to identify potential limitations, and to explore future applications.
