A Study on Safety Characteristics of the MHR-50/100 is for the Severe Accidents: Applicability of the New Safety Standard under Preparation in Japan

Recently the Nuclear Regulatory Committee in Japan started discussion for preparation of a New Safety Standard for Light Water Reactor Licensing Process to be set.We reviewed their discussion and studied the analysis the impact to the MHR-50/100is when it will be applied to accept licensing and construction. As result a of the study, we recognized that MHR-50/100is has some items to be modified and to be investigated precisely, however, they will not be critical issues with applying the inherent high safety concept which were used in previous HTGR design and construction.
