Interfacial Shear Measurement of a Wavy Gas-Liquid Interface

The experimental technique presented in this paper allows simultaneously resolving velocity fields on both sides of a stratified wavy gas/liquid interface, in an attempt to measure interfacial shear stress. This measurement is particularly challenging to perform in the case of a moving disturbed interface, where surface curvature and acceleration contribute significantly to the shear. The required high spatial and temporal resolutions are obtained through high-speed and high-magnification imaging.
